Tidal Estuary Painting

‘Edmonds Estuary’ by Aaron Rutten (2023)

Welcome! If you’re here to learn more about the painting I created to support the Edmonds Marsh, you’re in the right place. I’ll share a bit about the painting, my process for creating it, and details about how you can purchase this one-of-a-kind work of art.

I painted this solely for the Edmonds Marsh Art Contest. It is meant to help the public envision how the Marsh could be restored to a functional tidal estuary.

This painting won an Honorable Mention in the contest and was on display at Café Louvre, in downtown Edmonds from 1/28 through 2/28.

In total, this was about 22 hours of work, not counting the time I spent researching the marsh, estuary wildlife and other details.

This is a Limited Edition print (1 of 1) and is signed by the artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Aaron Rutten is a digital artist and art educator. Through his YouTube channel, he teaches digital art via tutorial videos to an audience of more than 200,000. He also offers more advanced lessons through paid courses and memberships.

Students have traveled to study with Aaron from as far away as Qatar.

“Aaron’s deep knowledge of Corel Painter, coupled with his considerable gifts as both an artist and a teacher, were invaluable to me. Digital art was something very alien to me, and I was initially somewhat wary of it — but the path of discovery that Aaron helped put me on has reinvigorated my creative impulses, and made me a true believer in this medium.”
